Now Hiring: NatureLink Program Coordinator
Seasonal Part Time Position
Over 100,000 new immigrants are settling in Ontario every year, primarily in the Greater Toronto Area. For many of them the outdoors are inaccessible due to lack of knowledge, experience or financial reasons. NatureLink is a new initiative of Parkbus, a project of not for profit organization, Transportation Options. NatureLink is aiming to improve access and address these barriers preventing many from enjoying the great outdoors. The NatureLink Program Coordinator will work together with settlement organizations and other partners involved in the initiative to create more outdoor opportunities for newcomers and other marginalized groups in and around the GTA.
START DATE: June 5th
END DATE: October 23rd
The position is based out of Toronto, with some regional travel required.
$25-$30 per hour
Estimated 15-25 hours per week
Develop outreach strategies for new Canadians and other priority population segments.
Assist with media/promotion events and other off-site related events and trade shows as needed (e.g. Canada 150 events).
Work with settlement agencies and stakeholders to leverage outreach and programming (including digital media campaigns as well as presentations)
Help create and distribute content through existing promotional channels.
Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Familiarity and passion for outdoor recreation and the parks systems.
Good command of English, with preference given to those who speak a second language.
This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, initiative and creativity.
Parkbus is a project of Transportation Options (T.O.), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable tourism and transportation in Ontario. Since 1992, T.O. has worked collaboratively to research, develop and promote new initiatives that are integrated, environmentally sound, healthy, service oriented and focused on improving the experience of users. Other projects of Transportation Options include award-winning Bike Train Initiative and the Ontario By Bike.
