FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The bus is sold out on my preferred date. What can I do?

As Cultus Lake is a new route for us, we are currently only offering trips on August 8th and 15th. If we find that there is demand for it, we will open up more dates.

What will bus travel look like due to COVID?

We are taking extra steps to ensure that everyone is safe and comfortable during the bus ride. This includes mandatory mask wearing, using hand sanitizer, enhanced and more frequent cleaning, and lowering passenger capacity by 50% to encourage physical distancing.

Why are we leaving so early from Vancouver?

Cultus Lake is busy and popular, especially on summer weekends. To ensure that you’re able to spend lots of time there and find a nice space to hang out for the day, it’s better to arrive early.

Do we need a BC Parks day pass to spend the day at Cultus Lake Provincial Park?

No, you do not.

Where will we be dropped off at Cultus Lake?

You will be dropped off at the Watt Creek parking lot. The Maple Bay day use area of Cultus Lake is a short walk from there.

What is there to do at Cultus Lake?

The Maple Bay day use area is a great spot to have a beach day and enjoy the water. If you are interested in hiking, there is the famous Teapot Hill Trail, which starts right by the bus drop-off.

Can I purchase food or get water at the park?

No, you cannot. To help plan for a great day in the park, please ensure you bring lots of extra water, snacks, lunch, sunscreen, and bug spray. Also consider bringing a bathing suit if you choose to go swimming and hiking shoes if you plan to do a hike.

What kind of buses do you use? Is there a washroom and A/C on board?

We use school buses on this route, which have no washroom and no A/C. While they are less comfortable than motorcoach buses (which we use on Parkbus overnight destinations like Algonquin), they also cost a fraction of what a motorcoach costs, allowing us to increase the number of days of operation available.

Is this a guided trip?

No, it is not. You must be completely self-sufficient, and be able to plan your own trip.

Can we bring bikes or strollers?

Unfortunately there is no space for bikes. Folding strollers may work, if they fold really well. If you are coming with a folding stroller, be sure to show up early to be the first one on the bus.
